Together, we’re all in this. Musical High School: The Wildcats are departing East High for a new adventure as The Musical: The Series returns to Disney+ for a third season.
In November 2019, HSMTMTS, the show’s abbreviation, made its Disney+ debut. It was influenced by the three-movie High School Musical series, the first two of which aired on Disney Channel in 2006 and 2007, respectively, and the third of which had its cinematic debut in 2008.

HSMTMTS is a mockumentary that is based at the now-famous East High School in Salt Lake City. It stars Joshua Bassett as fictional student Ricky, Olivia Rodrigo as Nini, Sofia Wylie as Gina, Matt Cornett as E.J., Dara Reneé as Kourtney, Julia Lester as Ashlyn, and Frankie Rodriguez as Carlos, among others. Miss Jenn, their vivacious drama teacher, also appears (Kate Reinders). In the first season, viewers followed the school’s theatrical group as they staged a performance of High School Musical.
